This walking tour starts with the route through Medici district, walking in the streets where the historical monuments have countered the life of the famous Florentine family during the centuries: San Lorenzo Church and the Medici Chapels, with their mausoleum.
Behind the corner you will find the majestic Duomo monumental Complex: the Baptistery with its doors, where you can admire the golden door, “Porta del Paradiso”; the Cathedral with the amazing Brunelleschi Dome and the hypnotic Giotto bell tower.
When you’ve breathed enough Renaissance art and history of Florence you’ll be ready to discover the characteristic streets of the medieval district where Beatrice and Dante lived and where you can also admire the Church of Orsanmichele, an unique Gothic art of Florentine, with its statues of the patron saints of the powerful medieval trading guilds. There you can discover the picturesque Straw Market: don’t forget to rub the nose of the famous “porcellino” (pig).
From there we will go in Piazza Signoria, considered one of the most beautiful squares, famous to be the world and political center of Florence. Now this place is become an “open-air museum”, where you can be fascinated by the beautiful Fountain of Neptune with the imposing marble statue of Ammannati and by the sculptural masterpieces of the Loggia dei Lanzi, including the Perseus by Cellini and the Rape of the Sabines by Giambologna. In here you also can admire Palazzo Vecchio with Arnolfo’s crenellated tower, one of the most famous symbols of Florence.
From there, following the outside elevated path of the Vasari Corridor, a spectacular secret path through the Medici’s family buildings, you will arrive at the Ponte Vecchio, the oldest bridge in Florence, unique in the world, and you will end this amazing walking tour admiring its renowned jewellery shops!
Then you will be free to enjoy your private delicious Tuscan Lunch in a typical restaurant located in the old town, or where you want.
After lunch, in the afternoon we will go inside the Uffizi Gallery (skipping the line), where you can admire many unique works of art made by Michelangelo, Leonardo da Vinci, Botticelli, Raffaello, Giotto, Cimabue, Masaccio and many others. Among the precious exhibition halls of the Gallery, the most renowned one contains the refined works by Botticelli, amongst which the absolute masterpieces: “Primavera” and “Birth of Venus“.
The latter painting, the icon of the museum, represents the allegory of the birth of the goddess emerging from the sea foam and symbolizes the ideal of beauty as an expression of purity and spiritual quality, typical of the Renaissance Neoplatonic aesthetics.
At the ending parte of the guided Tour we will go to the Uffizi Terrace, where you can enjoy the exclusive view of the city’s most important monuments, then it is possible to stay in the museum.
